Staying at home for a few days while we wait out COVID- 19 seems like it may be nice at first and if you’re like me it’s a wonderful change of pace! It sounds great not having to put on makeup for a few days and lounge in comfy clothes… BUT on day 4,5,6… you might start to feel like you are loosing it.
Let’s face it, while being at home with your family is AMAZING, you may start to work on each others nerves a little (it happens)… and that’s where we come into play. We’ve created a few tips on how to relax and keep your mind active while you are cooped up a home for the next few days!
RELAX. I know what you’re thinking… how do I relax in the midst of everything going on. Relaxing will be essential to both your mental and physical health. If you find yourself getting lost on social media reading articles about what’s going on and making you anxious… step away. Try to take this time to unplug! Do some deep breathing which will help your tension subside!
Yoga and Mediation. Yoga and meditation can help improve a person's mental well-being. According to specialists, regular yoga practice creates mental clarity and calmness; increases body awareness; relieves chronic stress patterns; relaxes the mind; centers attention; and sharpens concentration… A great way to keep the mind active and keep you relaxed.
Get in some exercise. Take a walk around the neighborhood or do some light exercise in your home. This allows you to get out of the house. Exercise is also a mood booster.
Play a game. Play fun or challenging games. We all have a closet full of board games that get played like once a year…. It’s time to bring them out. I know when I play games with my family it always ends in everyone laughing hysterically on the floor. Laughter can relieve physical tension and stress.
5. Try a New Recipe. Look at some of the extra ingredients you have tucked away in your pantry or fridge and try something new. You’ll either nail it or bomb it, but it can be something new and fun to try and maybe you’ll even make it again sometime.
6. Stay Productive. Maybe get ahead of spring cleaning, get ahead in work, plan out your summer. While it’s great to binge out of Netflix and TV.. try to catch your self if you end up spending too much time on the couch. Take a break every 30-45 minutes to do something productive! Stay tuned.. there may be another blog on how to accomplish this!
